Most Affordable and Expensive Destinations for Summer Vacations

During the summer of 2019, Russian travelers incurred the highest average expenses for guided tours and taxi services in Greece, museum tickets in Spain, and buses in Cyprus. Additionally, accommodations in French hotels were found to be three times more expensive compared to Russian counterparts. French restaurants and Thai bars were identified as the costliest options for dining and drinks, respectively. These findings were derived from an analysis conducted by Yandex.Money, which examined the payment data of Yandex.Money cardholders between May and August of that year. The study specifically focused on countries that are popular among Russian travelers.

Transportation: Affordable Options in Turkey

Russian tourists had the highest average expenses for taxi rides in Greece (3,686 rubles), Italy (1,565 rubles), and Turkey (1,482 rubles). However, when it came to railway tickets, Turkey had the lowest average cost (401 rubles), whereas Georgia (2,315 rubles) and Italy (1,977 rubles) had the highest fares.

For car rentals, travelers incurred the highest average expenses in Greece and France, totaling 18,957 rubles and 17,862 rubles, respectively. In Cyprus, they spent nearly half as much (9,272 rubles on average), and in Italy, they spent a third as much (6,354 rubles).

Among various destinations, Turkey emerged as the most cost-effective choice for internal flights, with an average expense of 1,037 rubles. Conversely, travelers incurred the highest costs for internal flights in Thailand, where the average expenditure amounted to 7,639 rubles. Among European countries, France had the highest average flight expense at 4,534 rubles, which interestingly was similar to the average cost in Russia, amounting to 4,154 rubles.

When it comes to bus tickets, Cyprus (3,278 rubles) and France (3,203 rubles) topped the list with the highest average payments, while Turkey (232 rubles) offered the most affordable bus fares.

Overall, when considering transportation expenses in general, Russian travelers experienced the highest costs in France, Greece, and Cyprus, while Turkey and Georgia were the destinations with the lowest expenses.

Accommodation and Dining: Expensive France

In the current year, France (7,483 rubles) and Italy (6,577 rubles) had the highest average expenses for hotel rooms, while Turkey (3,391 rubles) offered more affordable options. It is noteworthy that the analysis considered payments made through Yandex.Money cards, encompassing both accommodation bookings and extensions, as well as late check-outs. However, travelers within Russia managed to spend even less on hotels, with an average cost of 2,386 rubles.

When it comes to orders in cafés, customers spent the most on average in Italy (811 rubles), while Turkey (410 rubles) and Georgia (259 rubles) offered more budget-friendly options. Regarding restaurant visits, the largest average bills were observed in France (2,013 rubles) and Thailand (1,851 rubles), while Turkey (763 rubles) and Georgia (702 rubles) had the lowest expenses. In bars, Thailand (3,122 rubles), Turkey (2,256 rubles), and Cyprus (2,125 rubles) saw the highest average expenditures, while Spain (813 rubles) had comparatively lower spending.

Leisure Activities: Notable Tours

Russian tourists encountered the highest average expenses for museum and tourist show tickets in Thailand (22,131 rubles), while Turkey (854 rubles) and Georgia (635 rubles) offered more affordable options.

When it comes to guided tours, Greece (11,953 rubles) secured the top position with the highest average expenses, followed by Tunisia (10,953 rubles) and Cyprus (9,978 rubles). In contrast, France (4,378 rubles) and Georgia (2,656 rubles) had the lowest average costs for guided tours.

When it comes to cruises, cinema, bowling, and various other forms of entertainment, customers spent the most on average in Italy (2,766 rubles), Thailand (2,360 rubles), and Spain (1,733 rubles). In contrast, Georgia (618 rubles) and France (644 rubles) witnessed the lowest average expenditures in these categories.
